API Drill Pipe Connections and Threads – Reliable and Durable Solutions for Oil Drilling
At WELONG, we specialize in manufacturing and supplying API-certified drill pipes with high-strength connections and threads. The drill pipe connection is a crucial part of the drill string, directly impacting the reliability, durability, and overall drilling efficiency. In this article, we introduce the types of drill pipe connections, their features, and performance benefits.
✅ 1. Drill Pipe Connections and Threads – Key Components
The drill pipe connection consists of two parts:
- Pin connection (male) – Located at one end of the drill pipe body.
- Box connection (female) – Located at the opposite end, designed to mate with the pin connection of another pipe.
The connections feature coarse threads, which allow individual drill pipes to be securely connected. During drilling, the connections are frequently assembled and disassembled, making them prone to wear. To enhance durability, the connection walls are thicker, and the outer diameter of the connection is larger than that of the pipe body. Additionally, the connections are made from high-strength alloy steel for superior resistance to wear and impact.
✅ Material: Our drill pipe connections are made from 35CrMo alloy steel, a high-strength, wear-resistant material widely used in the oil and gas industry.
