WELONG forgings for large gear and gear ring

Regarding WELONG forgings for large gear and gear ring, please refer to following information.

1 Ordering requirements:

The name of the forging, material grade, quantity of supply, and delivery status should be specified by both the supplier and the buyer. Clear technical requirements, inspection items, and additional inspection items beyond the standard requirements should be provided. The buyer should provide ordering drawings and relevant precision machining drawings. In case of special requirements from the buyer, mutual consultation between the supplier and the buyer is necessary.

2 Manufacturing process:

The steel for forgings should be smelted in an alkaline electric furnace.

3 Forging:

There should be sufficient allowance on the upper and lower parts of the steel ingot to ensure that the finished forgings are free from shrinkage, porosity, severe segregation, and other harmful defects. The forgings should be directly formed by forging the steel ingot. The forgings should be forged on forging presses with sufficient capacity to ensure complete forging and uniform structure. The forgings are allowed to be forged with multiple reductions.

4 Heat treatment:

After forging, the forgings should be cooled slowly to prevent cracking. If necessary, normalizing or high-temperature tempering should be carried out to improve the structure and machinability. The heat treatment process of normalizing and tempering or quenching and tempering can be chosen based on the material grade of the forgings. The forgings are allowed to be heat treated with multiple reductions.

5 Weld repair:

For forgings with defects, welding repair can be carried out with the approval of the buyer.

6 Chemical composition: Each batch of molten steel should undergo smelting analysis, and the analysis results should comply with the relevant specifications. Finished forgings should undergo final analysis, and the results should comply with the relevant specifications, with allowable deviations as specified.

7 Hardness:

When hardness is the only requirement for the forgings, at least two positions should be tested on the end face of the gear ring forging, approximately 1/4 of the diameter from the outer surface, with a 180° separation between the two positions. If the diameter of the forging is larger than Φ3,000 mm, at least four positions should be tested, with a 90° separation between each position. For gear or gear shaft forgings, hardness should be measured at four positions on the outer surface where teeth will be cut, with a 90° separation between each position. The hardness deviation within the same forging should not exceed 40 HBW, and the relative hardness difference within the same batch of forgings should not exceed 50 HBW. When both hardness and mechanical properties are required for the forgings, the hardness value can only serve as a reference and cannot be used as the acceptance criterion.

8 Grain size: The average grain size of carburized gear steel forgings should not be coarser than grade 5.0.
